Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status with his folk-based pop songs with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in affection with Colorado and then moved to Aspen. A few took the road through Colorado following the Denver's cult songs for his home state. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame declared the following: John Denver was by far one of the most popular artists who represented Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. Denver is the symbol of Colorado for a lot of people around the world. If you travel with me, you may meet people at the other side of the planet. For example people who is from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown declared. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief period of performing with small folk-based group comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver realized from the first moment he listened to the first versions of the song that it was going to be an instant hit. Danoff recorded the track within a couple of days when he performed it in front of the awe-inspiring crowd on the streets of Washington D.C.
