Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads written by co-writer Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo artist following a short time in small folk groups. Danoff composed the song for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the song's potential the moment he heard it for the first time.
